The description

This product is called the stone-baked sweet potato donut, and it's a limited time offering available from Misdo stores. It was priced at 198 yen for eat in, slightly cheaper for to-go.

The good

As far as autumn foods go, yakiimo is one of my absolute favorite seasonal treats. If I hear a yakiimo van I basically go hunt it down! This new stone-baked sweet potato donut from Misdo basically tries to emulate the look of yakiimo, and I think they did a pretty good job of it! As you can see, the exterior has that purplish look to it, and the inside is a lovely yellow color. The donut dough itself also contains 1.3% sweet potato powder, so it's not just fake flavoring. Price-wise, I feel like it's not bad for what you get, either, coming in at under 200 yen whether you have it dine in or to go. Well worth trying out if you're a sweet potato fan!

The not so good

This is a bit more interesting and involved than the plain sweet potato donut (the simplest of the range), but it still leans towards a pretty basic donut. If you prefer more bells and whistles in terms of fillings, toppings, and so forth, then you might still find this one a bit lackluster. There are some others in the range that might suit you better if that's the case, though, so I would absolutely suggest still seeking some of those out. Overall though, I loved this one, both for the cute appearance and the taste. Head in to your nearest Misdo store sooner rather than later if it sounds like a must-try item to you. Happy eating! :)
