The description
This product is a hand-squeezed chestnut Mont Blanc, and it's a limited-time/seasonal offering available from Starbucks stores. It was priced at 590 yen including tax.
The good
This hand-squeezed Mont Blanc is a real treat for anyone who loves chestnuts. The layer of chestnut paste has a nice earthy sweetness, and the smooth chestnut mousse and whipped cream add a lighter texture. I especially liked the contrast from the crispy white chocolate crumble, which gives the dessert some much-needed crunch among all the creamy layers. The large chestnut pieces on top also make it feel extra indulgent. As you can tell from the name, the chestnut paste is piped by hand, giving each Mont Blanc a unique appearance.
The not so good
The biggest drawback is that this is a pretty rich dessert, and the amount of chestnut paste can become a little much after several bites. If you prefer lighter desserts, the combination of chestnut paste, mousse, whipped cream, and white chocolate crumble may feel quite heavy. There's also a lot of softness overall, with the crumble providing most of the textural contrast. If you find yourself really loving it, though, you've also got to contend with the fact that it's a limited time only offering. Always a bit of a bummer when that's the case.
