The description

This product is a Uji matcha kakigori, and it's part of a kakigori fair for the warmer months at the Coco's restaurant chain. The regular size was 979 yen (perfect for sharing!) and there's also a mini size if you're solo.

The good

Summers here are pretty brutal, but one thing I look forward to when the heat ramps up each year is kakigori. The Coco's restaurant chain currently has a kakigori fair going on with three different flavors to choose from, one of them being this very traditionally Japanese Uji matcha option. It also includes red bean paste and chewy mochi balls along with some fluffy whipped cream on top, so if you're a fan of lots of flavors and textures then this should appeal to you. I was also pleased to see they were offering this in both the regular and the mini sized versions. I split this with my husband, but if I was solo there's no way I would be able to get through a regular size, so the mini would be ideal.

The not so good

As I mentioned above, this is a very traditionally Japanese option that packs in those earthy flavors of red bean and matcha. I've grown to love that over the years, but I know not everyone is the fan. If that's the case though, they also have a strawberry or a mango kakigori option which might sound a little more appealing. Overall though, this was a tasty and refreshing kakigori option, and I love that it's released at a nationwide chain so it's accessible to just about anyone. Head in to your nearest Coco's Restaurant if you want to get your shaved ice fix! Happy eating! :)
