The description

This product is a Hojicha Milk Pie, and you can find it at Zetteria (formerly Lotteria) stores at the moment. It was priced at 260 yen including tax.

The good

This Hojicha Milk Pie is a nice dessert option if you enjoy hojicha but don't necessarily want it in drink form. The combo of roasted green tea cream and milk cream gives it a good balance of toasty and slightly bitter tea flavors alongside some sweetness. I liked that it uses two different fillings rather than relying entirely on the tea flavor, which I think could make it more approachable for people who aren't huge hojicha fans. The crispy pastry also adds some texture to the creamy filling. At ¥260, it's an affordable little treat to have with a coffee or tea.

The not so good

The biggest downside is that this pie might be a little too rich for some people, between the pastry and two creamy fillings, especially if you're after something light to snack on. The roasted green tea flavor may also be a drawback if you prefer sweeter, more familiar dessert flavors. Hojicha's slightly bitter, roasted taste isn't for everyone, and it could be a bit of an acquired taste even with the milk cream! As a tea fan though, I thought it was great -- if you're in the same boat then be sure to head in to a Zetteria (formerly Lotteria) store sooner rather than later. Happy eating! :)
