The description

This product is the newly-released MOW Prime ice cream in a strawberry, chocolate, and milk flavor. It was purchased from 7-11, and priced at 237 yen including tax.

The good

When I was a kid, I used to love Neapolitan ice cream where you get three flavors (chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla) in the one tub. This new MOW Prime in a strawberry, chocolate, and milk flavor feels like a fancier version of that, so it did provide a little sense of nostalgia! The concept is fairly simple but well-executed: there's a layer of milk flavored ice cream, it's then topped with a strawberry sauce, and then chocolate ice cream is layered on the top. The chocolate ice cream in particular feels rich and indulgent (it uses cocoa beans sourced from Ecuador) so overall the product feels good quality for the price.

The not so good

The strawberry sauce layer is pretty thin, and the milk and chocolate ice cream flavors really do dominate. If you're a strawberry fan over the other two, you might find the amount of it to be a little lackluster. Overall though, I liked this a lot. It comes across as a gourmet, adult-marketed ice cream, and it's about 100 yen cheaper than individual tubs of Haagen Dazs. If you're looking for an ice cream treat that feels special but doesn't break the bank, this is a good option. I got mine from 7-11, but you may be able to find it at other convenience store chains too. Happy eating, and enjoy! :)
