Starbucks has a couple of items on their menu right now that utilize mottanai bananas (bananas that are perfectly edible but are unfortunately discarded for various reasons) and this Banana Affogato Frappuccino is one of them. I think it's great that they incorporate a bit of a no waste/eco-friendly concept to this, especially since Starbucks is such a big global chain. As for the taste, I really liked the flavor combo, probably more so than I had expected to. There's a nice sweetness from the bananas, and the hint of acidity from the espresso balances it really well.

Obviously the usual downside with Starbucks frappuccinos still applies here, and that's the cost. 700 yen is pricey for a drink, especially when that equates to an entire meal at some places! I still think if you're a frap fan then it's a nice one to try at least once, but I personally wouldn't purchase it again and that's solely a reflection of the price point. Also, if you do find yourself really liking this, it's only a limited time offering. In saying that, Starbucks are great at releasing new, yummy flavors all the time, so there's undoubtedly something else tasty just around the corner.
