The best smell of autumn

There are a few smells that instantly tell you autumn has arrived in Japan, and one of them has to be the aroma of yakiimo.

You can sniff them out from a mile off. Okay, maybe not literally, but close enough. Any time I walk into a supermarket, I basically follow my nose until I find where the warmer is set up. Even when I'm not planning on buying one, the smell makes it almost impossible to resist.

They're simple, filling, and naturally sweet. No toppings, no sauce, no fuss, and the superfood element doesn't hurt, either.
