Ginkgo in all their glory

To me, autumn is hands down Japan’s best season. Sure, I’m going to have some who will argue the beauty of springtime and their sakura - but in my family, “spring has sprung” is just a euphemism for “allergies have arrived”, so you can see why we defer to the fall months here.

I was reminded of one of my favorite parts of fall when I was out walking this morning. Ginkgo, glorious ginkgo!

I love when I see the leaves turning that beautiful yellow hue! It seems though that the autumn months up here in snow country are fickle, since there’s already a giant ton of leaves that have fallen.

Snow has also begun to adorn the mountaintops that surround my town, so I’m trying to make the most of it and enjoy the days that are sunny and still moderately warm while I can. The trees are going to be bare before I know it!

haha, I kinda love that you live just a bit north of me! you posted about the rice harvesting, then a week later it happened here. I bet the ginkgo will all turn a week after this post now too!
