Nothing better than a yakiimo

Japan has plenty of elaborate seasonal foods, but I often find that the simplest things are the ones I look forward to most. When yakiimo season arrives, I know autumn has properly settled in.

Right now, they're starting to appear everywhere in my local area. You might spot them at supermarkets, roadside stalls, farmers markets, or even hear a yakiimo truck making its way through the neighborhood. I got my most recent fix at Don Quijote!

I know that this is just the first of many for the autumn season. As the weather cools down, I love that they can also substitute as a bit of a handwarmer as well!
