The description

This product is a Simon Coll Advent Calendar (Spanish chocolatier), and I found it at Kaldi Coffee Farm before December. It was on sale for 1285 yen but the RRP was 2998 yen.

The good

Advent calendars are one of those things that really remind me of my own childhood and the lead up to Christmas, and I try to procure them for my own kiddos each year. Obviously here in Japan they're not as easy to find as they are in my home country, but Kaldi Coffee Farm is pretty good at coming through! They had these Simon Coll advent calendars on sale before December started for 1285 yen each, which is still kinda high IMO but the retail price was 2998 yen!! I feel like getting them for under half price was a steal of a deal. The quality of the chocolate is very good, and so far they've depicted things like a glove, jumper, beanie, hot cocoa mug, a gingerbread man, and more. If you're looking for an advent calendar in future years I'd recommend checking at Kaldi to see what they have in stock.

The not so good

Even at half price I'd say this is expensive for an advent calendar compared to what I could find at a regular ol' supermarket back home. Obviously they're imported and there's a price tag attached to that, but I cannot fathom paying 2998 yen for one. As a result I could really only recommend these when they're on sale. As I mentioned above I got these for 1285 yen, and that's probably the most I would feel comfortable paying for them. Good quality chocolate, nice designs, and something fun for my kids to look forward to every day in the lead up to Christmas, but you do pay for it!
