Getting it done

Over the last week or so we had some sunny days, so it was nice to see the farmers being able to get their rice fields ploughed! Most of the local area now looks like the picture below, with the fields having their annual "haircut".

Living out here in the countryside has made me acutely aware of just how important weather conditions are to successfully growing things. Everything from it being too hot or too cold, too rainy or too windy (e.g. in the case of typhoons), and even the timing of those extremes during the growth cycle of certain crops can be make or break.


With a rainy day ahead for us today, I'm glad that most of the harvesting out here seems to be complete.
