This strawberry-cream filled melonpan is a really nice option for something different than the original product. The bread itself is light and fluffy but with the trademark crispy outer (and a fun pink color!), and the cream filling is generously portioned and has a great taste to it. I think this would be a big hit with kids (or kids at heart), and I think it's large enough that you could cut it in half to split with someone if the entire thing was too large. I do think it might be a bit messy to cut, though ;) Overall, something fun for melonpan fans looking for a different take on the classic.

At almost 300 yen, this is fairly expensive in my opinion for a melonpan. In saying that I do think the cream filling was very generous and it is pretty big, so I guess that's a bit of a saving grace. Also, strawberry flavored things in summer seems a touch out of place -- I'm used to strawberry being very much a winter/early spring seasonal flavor. I'm not sure how long this will be stocked at 7-11 stores for, so if it sounds like a must-try to you, be sure to head in to your nearest location to get your hands on it while you can.
