The good
The festive season is when I occasionally get a little homesick, so a festive treat is always a nice thing to make it easier to manage! This pistachio tree cake from Tully's right now absolutely looks the part, with its Christmas tree-inspired design and little candied chestnut stars. The pistachio cream has a nice sweetness, and the raspberry jam adds a fruity tang that stops everything from becoming too rich. I quite liked the combo of flavors, as pistachio and raspberry work surprisingly well together. The candied chestnuts are a nice festive touch, too, adding a little extra sweetness and texture. If you like Instagrammable desserts, then I'd say this one is fun to try out! :)
The not so good
While this cake has plenty going for it, it's definitely one for people who enjoy sweeter desserts. The combo of pistachio cream, raspberry jam, and candied chestnuts means there's quite a lot going on with it, so if you prefer simpler desserts then this might not be your fave. It's also a seasonal offering, which means you won't be able to enjoy it year-round if you do find yourself really enjoying it.
