The description
This product is the new Shiro Noir Black Mont Blanc (Uji Matcha Style) which is available from Komeda Coffee for a limited time. The mini size was 770 yen, you can also get it in a larger size.
The good
Komeda Coffee is great at releasing fun, seasonal flavors of their classic shiro noir dessert, and this one incorporates both chocolate and matcha for a tasty treat. The chocolate isn't just syrupy chocolate -- it's the same stuff that we call "ice magic" in Australia which has a shell that hardens. The matcha is Uji matcha from Kyoto, which I think always has quite the reputation for being top quality, and I had no complaints there. The danish and ice cream pair really nicely with the whole thing -- it's a good mix of sweet, earthy, crispy, and smooth -- so everything feels quite balanced.
The not so good
I know that not everyone is big on matcha -- I feel like it's very much a "love it or hate it" without a lot of wiggle room in between. I don't think anyone who is on the fence about it would purchase it, though... Also, if you don't like a big mix of flavors and textures then this might not be the best option for you, either. The only other real downside is that if you find yourself really enjoying this, you only have a limited window of time to get your hands on it. If it sounds like a must try item to you, be sure to head in to your nearest Komeda Coffee store while you can. Happy eating, and enjoy! :)
