The description

This product is a red bean and whipped cream croissant, and you can find it at Family Mart stores at the moment. It was priced at 138 yen including tax.

The good

Most of the time, convenience stores have their usual red bean and whipped cream filling in a regular ol' bun. I thought it was nice seeing this added to a croissant instead -- it made the whole thing feel a bit more elevated IMO. The price is super reasonable as well, at only 138 yen including tax. It's either on par or cheaper than most of the other bread-based products at Family Mart at the moment, so if keeping it budget-friendly is your jam then this is a good option to try. It's decently filling, too, probably owing to the red bean filling. Not bad for the price, all things considered!

The not so good

I don't know how high my expectations should have been with a croissant that only cost pocket change, but I did feel that the bready part of this was a bit lackluster -- it wasn't as flavorsome or as fresh-feeling as a croissant from an independent bakery. Again, though, I probably have to adjust those expectations for the cost. Overall, it was a filling snack that did what I needed it to do, and I liked that it was something different than the usual bread bun + red bean and whipped cream option. In saying that, I don't know that I'd really be going out of my way to purchase it again.
