Things I didn't try early on: seasonal eating

One thing I truly appreciate about life here is the focus on seasonality that comes with food. That concept isn’t really a thing in my home country, and I think it took me a while to adapt to it as a result.

Now, I love being able to basically tell what time of year it is by what's stocked in stores, or on cafe menus. Right now, strawberries are taking center stage, soon it will be all things sakura flavored, summer has fruits like peaches and seasonal flavors like chocolate mint, and autumn (probably my fave time of year) zones in on things like sweet potato, chestnut, apples, and pears.

Not only do things taste so much better when they're in season, but their prices are gentler!
