The description

This product is a packet of Calbee thick sliced potato chips in a salt flavor. I got them from my local 7-11 store (but you can probably find them at other chains, too) and they were priced at 150 yen.

The good

The saying goes that the simple things in life are often the best, and that rings true for these thick cut salt chips from the Calbee brand. The uniqueness of this product comes from the fact that it uses two types of salt with different granule sizes (one is fine salt, the other is a more coarse one), along with flavors of scallops, kelp, and bonito that give off a good umami flavor. They're definitely a more-ish kind of chip that you just want to keep snacking on! The price was right around where I would have expected it to be, so I don't have any complaints there.

The not so good

As far as I know, these are a limited time only chip, and I liked them a lot because they were a thicker cut than usual. Obviously it's a bit of a bummer when you find yourself enjoying an item, only to have it disappear from store shelves all of a sudden. If you do end up liking them you can always keep a couple of extra bags stashed away for when the craving hits. That aside, no real issues with this product! The chips are simple, tasty, and a thicker crinkle cut, which is probably my favorite type. Keep an eye out for them at your local convenience store(s) if they sound good to you!
