One of the newest products in the Zone energy line of drinks is this blue bottle covered in equations, calling its flavor AI [解], where that sound of the kanji in parentheses is Kai and the meaning is "solution"
The good
The bottle looked really really cool and I was hoping it would also taste relatively good. It does taste a lot better and less surprising than the yogurt flavored one from a few years back. I do suppose that the flavor seems to connect to the AI meaning though I don't understand why they put a kanji meaning solution in parentheses as part of the name of the flavor. It was drinkable and didn't poison me, though I still have some of it left even a week after I opened it which is rare for me. Usually I finish my drinks rather quickly. It was part of a sale at the drugstore that I went to so I did get it at a slightly discounted price for buying it as part of a set of three Zone energy drinks.
The not so good
The flavor as I noted in the title of this review is something like diet ozone and not in a good way. It has all the charm of seltzer water but with that uncomfortable space where flavor should be and just isn't. I would have enjoyed almost any fruit flavor in this rather than the lack of fruit flavor that is there. In addition, it is higher in calories than the fruit flavored drinks from the same company. I don't understand why a delicious mango lassi version can be 160 kcal while this one tastes like sugar abandoned it in favor of something with a soul and it winds up being 212 kcal instead. How can you be hire in calories and taste so much less delicious?!
