The description
This product is a six pack of delicious ice-cream bar by Morinaga, with chocolate layers folded into smooth 'milk-vanilla' ice cream. Widely available throughout Japan.
The good
I have tried many ice-creams and ice-lollies in Japan over the years, and when I want a budget choice, Morinaga's Paripari Bar is the one I come back to most often. There are other, more expensive options, I prefer, but the Paripari Bar is always a safe bet - I have yet to come across anyone who doesn't like it! What I like about this ice-cream the most, is the chocolate pieces wrapped within the delicious milk vanilla ice-cream. The pieces are really crunchy. And they are a good size too. They are long pieces rather than small chunks, if you know what I mean. The contrast between the creamy vanilla ice cream and the thin, crackling chocolate layers is genuinely satisfying. The price is really good to, at 228 yen before tax or 246 yen with tax, for a pack of six. After tax it works out at 41 yen per ice-cream; can't go wrong with that. I like that there are six in a pack.
The not so good
While the price is very good in my local drug store, the price is not fixed. So, sometimes it is much more expensive in other supermarkets or drug stores. I personally find the size (of one ice-cream) just right, but some people might find it too small. They also might find the chocolate bits too thin or not deeply cocoa enough. Also, perhaps some people find the milk vanilla ice-cream too bland. Overall, I really like this ice-cream so I have and will continue to buy it frequently during the summer.
