The description
This product is one of the best value-for-money chocolate ice bars on the market, with a unique texture on the inside, similar to a mix of mochi and Turkish ice-cream.
The good
After tasting this truly delicious, unique 'ice-bar' (Ice-cream), I can't believe it was only 198 yen (before tax), working out at less than 40 yen per ice-bar before tax. There are five in a pack, which is also a good size for families and / or sharing. Milcrea stands out immediately for its texture - something like a cross between mochi and Turkish ice cream! That stretchy, chewy, fun part is in the inside. And outside it is wrapped in delicious Belgian chocolate coating which adds a smooth, elegant sweetness without overpowering the milk flavor inside. It’s a clever balance and an experience! The premium ingredients, a unique texture, and a compact size that makes it easy to enjoy anytime really makes it a luxurious offering at an affordable price.
The not so good
I struggle to come up with anything negative about this product. Perhaps, some people might find the texture a bit too different - if you are just after ice-cream, the stretchy texture inside might not hit the spot. It also might be a choking hazard for young children. Actually, that is a potential negative - this ice bar might not be for all ages, I think it is probably best suited to adult taste buds and I doubt children would enjoy it as much. I don't know how widely available it is in Japan. I only saw it for the first time this summer. I don't know if my local supermarket / drug store only started stocking it this summer or if they had it in previous years and I just didn't notice. It's on my radar now, so I will be buying it again.
