The description

This product is a ten pack of a simple, creamy vanilla ice bar made with Hokkaido diary, by Lotte. Widely available at supermarkets and drugstores around Japan.

The good

I most often buy this product when I need more than the usual pack of 5 or 6 ice-creams. I like that there is ten in this pack, which makes it great for sharing. I also like that the size of each individual ice bar isn't that big. The taste is great too, not too sweet and not too bland. The flavor is clean and milky without ever becoming too heavy. The packaging is cute and somewhat retro. Like the product itself, it's on the simple side. It's a safe bet with most ages thanks to the simple ingredients and gentle flavor.

The not so good

The ten pack is 348 yen before tax, or 375 yen after tax, where I bought them (Welcia), which works out at about 38 yen per bar after tax. I know it's not expensive but considering the size and the simplicity of the product, it's not cheap either. All that being said, I do think it's good value for money. And it's convenient that ten come in the same box. Its simplicity may also feel too plain for anyone who prefers more indulgent or complex ice creams. The vanilla flavor is mild, so those looking for a deeper dairy richness or a stronger aromatic profile might find it understated. Overall, though, I like it enough to buy it again.
