Four leaf clover day, promoting happiness
Today, and April 28th annually, is Four Leaf Clover Day in Japan. It is not exactly a day for the four leaf clover, but rather a day to cherish small moments of happiness in everyday life. The date comes from a 'goroawase' Japanese number play, 4/28 can be read as "yo (4) tsu (2) ba (8)" which means four leaf clover.
The company that created the anniversary used the four-leaf clover as the symbol for this day, because four leaf clovers are rare and finding one brings happiness. It is estimated that roughly only one in ten thousand clovers are four leafed, which is why they have long been associated with luck.
The Osaka based company behind the anniversary wanted to remind people to pause and look closely at the world around them and discover their own "four leaf clover" moments in everyday life.
