A monthly celebration of 'Piknik' on the 29th of the month

Every month on the 29th, Japan celebrates Piknik Day ピクニックの日. No, it is not the type of picnic you have on a grass plain, but rather the name of a drink in Japan! A drink brand created by the well-known Morinaga Milk Industry company.

The date of the anniversary comes from Japanese 'goroawase' where they play with the readings of numbers. The 29th can be read "ni (2) ku (9)" which is the second half of the word Pik-nik.

Piknik itself has a long history. First released in 1981, it comes in a variety of flavors such as strawberry, fruit, yogurt, café au lait, and coffee. The latter pictured in this post. Its popularity grew thanks to its delicious taste and impressive shelf life, up to 90 days at room temperature.

One of Piknik’s most distinctive features is its octagonal “prisma” container, designed with ergonomics in mind. This shape makes it easier to hold than a standard rectangular carton, adding to its everyday convenience.

Do you like Piknik drinks? What's your favorite flavor?
