Raising awareness about caring for whiplash
If you read my previous post, you know that today is a day to raise awareness about Glaucoma. But it is not the only medical condition that is highlighted on June 7th annually. Because today (June 7th) is also Whiplash Treatment Day むち打ち治療の日 in Japan.
"Whiplash Treatment Day" was created to raise awareness about the importance of proper care after neck injuries, especially those caused by traffic accidents. Many people assume that lingering pain, dizziness, or stiffness is something they must simply endure, but specialists emphasize that appropriate treatment can significantly improve symptoms.
The date comes from the phrase “mu (6) chiuchi wo na (7) oso,” meaning “let’s heal whiplash.” The day encourages anyone who has experienced neck trauma to seek professional care if discomfort remains. It also serves as a reminder to share knowledge with family and friends, helping others understand that whiplash is a real medical condition, not an exaggeration.
Whiplash Treatment Day aims to reduce suffering, promote early intervention, and empower people to reclaim comfort and mobility in their daily lives. Have you ever had whiplash in Japan? How did you find the medical care for the condition?
