Promoting healthy soy latte

June 12th is Healthy Soy Latte Day ヘルシーソイラテの日 in Japan. It is an anniversary created by the Japan Soymilk Association. The organization, based in Tokyo’s Jimbocho district, promotes the production, distribution, and enjoyment of soymilk products across the country.

They chose June 12th for the anniversary for two reasons. One, it falls during Japan’s humid rainy season, when staying hydrated and nourished becomes especially important. Two, it also plays on the the 12th, which is made up of 10 + 2 which can be read as “toh (10) nyuu (2),” the Japanese for soymilk. The goal of the day is to encourage people to enjoy soy‑based drinks, especially soy lattes.

While the classic version blends espresso with warmed soymilk, the association highlights many variations. Such as hojicha, matcha, black tea, strawberry, and banana. Showing how versatile and nutritious soymilk can be. Moreover, these drinks offer plant‑based protein and are naturally dairy‑free, making them appealing to health‑conscious consumers and those with dietary restrictions.

With interest in soy lattes growing among younger generations, the Japan Soymilk Association hopes this celebration will help expand the market and inspire more people to enjoy gentle, nourishing soy‑based drinks.
