Larkspur, a birthday flower of July 26th

Larkspur is one of the birthday flowers of July 26th along with others such as Coreopsis and Bougainvillea, which you will also find on City-cost. In addition to July 26th, Larkspur is also a birthday flower of April 17th and May 21st.
Larkspur is known as rakkusupaa ラッカスパー, chidoriso 千鳥草 and hienso 飛燕草 in Japanese. It is very closely related to Delphinium. It comes in shades of blue, purple, pink and white. It is often used to color borders in parks. In Japan, it typically blooms from around May to July, before the "major heat" solar term arrives. The heat shortens its flowering period.
In the Japanese language of flowers larkspur carries the meanings "cheerfulness" and "liveliness". In both Japanese and English the flower was named for its resemblance to birds. In Japanese, "hiensou" refers to the way the flowers resemble birds in flight. In English "larkspur" refers to its resemblance to the claw of a lark.
Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
