I picked up a pair of Food Socks as a gift after spotting this amusing display at Don Quijote. The stand immediately caught my attention because it looks like a vending machine. When I got closer I was truly impressed by the colorfulness of the product. Moreover, the packaging looks so much like actual food that I had to take a closer look! The sandwich version I chose was especially convincing, packaged in Japan's distinctive triangle cardboard back with a clear front. The display itself featured a variety of food-inspired designs, including snacks, desserts, and other familiar favorites, making it difficult to choose just one. I got them at 799 yen (before tax), but it was a special promotion. Normally, they cost 878 yen so I was delighted with myself!

The biggest drawback - trying to pick just one of these really fun and cool food themed socks was very, very difficult. I ultimately chose a pair that were more distinctly Japanese than say the pizza, hamburger or red meat ones. Although, the latter, were incredibly tempting - they really do look like red meat on sale in a supermarket! The price is fair I think, but because it is not cheap I was limited to the number of pairs I could justify buying. However, I would definitely buy them as a gift again. This is not about the product itself, but, rather, I was disappointed that not all the socks in the range are available at the branch of Don Quijote I went to.
