Magical Rainbow Candy is one of those treats that instantly brings back the cheerful energy of Japanese festivals and dagashi shops. As I wrote in another review earlier today (wind up Panda), even though this exact product wasn't sold in my homeland, it brought back a sense of nostalgia. There were definitely similar prodcuts sold in my country back in the day! The packaging is vibrant and playful, with a rainbow motif that makes it feel fun even before you open it. Inside, the candy stick has a classic, nostalgic sweetness; light and fruity, with a note of apple about it - whether imaginary or real. I bought this as one single item, but it does come in bulk too.

Because I bought just one it was 32 yen (before tax), but if you do buy them in bulk, it works out a lot cheaper. Generally, about 19 yen or 20 yen a piece. Amazon sells this product in bulk. Personally, I didn't like this product enough to eat it more than once. It was great for the throwback, but like the sweet of the 80s, I really doubt it is good for you and I certainly doubt they are good for your teeth. However, a party pack might be good for a party. They would make nice party favors. However, I would avoid giving them to small children as they are a choking hazard.
