One of my daughters picked this out for a homemade birthday hamper we were making up for a teenage girl who is into both cute and retro. This was a perfect addition to the hamper. We had plenty of cute, and this added a bit of retro too. Moreover, it added some fun! For me personally, it was a nostalgic throwback to classic novelty toys of my youth. I don't know how long this product has been around, but the first thing I thought when I saw it was - "I had one of those as a kid"! I doubt it was the same make / brand, but I certainly had something very similar. It is lightweight but seems fairly durable. I wouldn't expect it to last years though!

As above, I doubt that this wind-up panda will last particularly long. The wind‑up mechanism is basic, and depending on the unit, it may not run very far or very straight. The plastic is lightweight, which keeps the cost down but also means it doesn’t feel particularly sturdy. The wheels can wobble, and the movement can be inconsistent, especially on uneven surfaces. The packaging is cute but minimal, giving it more of a “festival toy” vibe than a polished collectible. If you’re looking for a durable or high‑quality wind‑up toy, this one might feel too simple. It’s fun and colorful, but best suited for casual play rather than long‑term use. I feel like this is the type of toy you used to be able to pick up in the 100 yen store, but nowadays it is unlikely. This wasn't cheap per se, at 440 yen before tax. I doubt they sell many, but it was ideal for our birthday hamper.
