Super Cup Day sounds like a sporting event, but it is a day dedicated to a delicious vanilla ice-cream in a cup by Meiji. The full name of the day is actually Meiji Essel Super Cup Day 明治エッセルスーパーカップの日. It is marked on September 20th annually. The reason for the date of the observance was chosen as Super Cup 'cho' (very) vanilla first went on sale on September 20th, 1994.

For many people in Japan, the Super Cup is a familiar freezer staple. It certainly is in my household.
