A day for strong and healthy hair
Today, and April 11th annually, in Japan is Proper and Good Hair Day しっかりいい髪の日 (Shikkari Kami no Hi), or what we might call "Healthy Hair" in English. The date comes from a play on how 4/11 can be read as "shi (4) kkari ii (11)" meaning 'proper and good', paired with "kami" which means hair.
The timing is meaningful as spring in Japan symbolizes renewal, fresh starts and personal reset. It is also the season when children have health checks in school. By placing the anniversary in this week of April, the creators highlight hair care as part of overall well-being.
The company that created the anniversary developed a product, "SonoRepro" that is a home-use hair care device that stimulates the scalp with focused ultrasonic vibrations. But you don't need to go to these lengths to ensure healthy hair - strong and healthy hair is as much about overall health as grooming.

Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
