This compact Daiso toilet‑rim cleaner with a pumice-style abrasive pad is designed to reach the hidden underside of the toilet rim. It scrubs mineral buildup on ceramic surfaces with relative ease. Of course, I can see under the rim, but I can see on the stick and when I flush the toilet that is shifting mineral buildup. I like that this is a two pack and that the sticks have a hook on the top so they can be hung to dry if you want to reuse them. I get a few uses out of them in summer, when Japan is prone to mold, but even more in winter. They are lightweight, small and inexpensive that help keep a bathroom fresh and clean with minimum effort. At just 100 yen (110 yen with tax) for two, they feel like good value for money.

While handy for reaching the underside of the toilet rim, this cleaner has a few limitations. The abrasive pad wears down quickly, especially on older toilets with heavy mineral buildup. The stick itself is short, so you may need to lean in more than expected, and the angle isn’t adjustable, making certain curves harder to scrub. It’s disposable, which isn't great for the eco-system. But as above, I personally reuse them often. Also, as a disposable item it is not very durable, so if you put too much pressure into your cleaning you might snap the stick.
