The description

This is a product review of one of Calbee's thick cut potato chip range: a 55 gram packet of the seaweed salt (norishio) flavor chips available nationwide.

The good

For me, norishio which is most often translated to seaweed salt(ed), is always a safe bet when purchasing potato chips (crisps) for the family to enjoy. Likewise, the Calbee brand range of potato chips are also a safe bet, because they are a well established and respected potato chip manufacturer. I picked up this packet because they are thick cut, which is a bit different to the regular potato chips I buy. I've been seeing a lot more 'thick cut' potato chips in the stores lately. I don't know which company started the trend, but its certainly caught on!

The not so good

The norishio flavored potato chips by Calbee are very good in my opinion, but I think I actually prefer the regular cut ones for this particular flavor. I did enjoy the crispness and chunkiness of the product, but I think this flavor is best suited to a different, thinner texture. Or it could just be that I need to get used to the thick cut in this flavor. I have tried thick in other flavors and thoroughly enjoyed them though. I don't know if this is a limited edition range or whether or not thick cut norishio flavored potato chips from Calbee are here to stay. I guess we'll find out with time!
