How a sales assistant saved us a small fortune on air conditioners
Earlier in the year, around February or March, my husband was buying an electrical appliance in a local electric appliances store. He got a particularly nice and extremely helpful sales assistant, who ended up saving us a small fortune. The staff member mentioned to my husband at a time when it wasn't yet widespread, that the price of air conditioners are set to double in 2027.
Thanks to that sales assistant we purchased an air conditioner within weeks. We recently transformed a storage room without air conditioning to a bedroom. An air conditioning unit in a bedroom is an absolutely essential in our part of Saitama Prefecture. You could quite literally die from heat during the night without one. So, we had to buy one as a priority.
Shortly after we bought that air conditioning unit, we started to see an increase in chat about the air conditioner prices expected to double in 2027, so we decided to replace three of our older air conditioning units this year too. We got one of them at the start of April and another in May. By the time we purchased the latter, the price hikes in 2027 had made the news and air conditioner sales had gone through the roof.
Due to that we had to wait a few weeks to get it installed, but we had no problem ordering it. However, by the time we went to order the final air conditioner unit, the news was so widespread that the air conditioning units were sold out in all of our local electrical appliance stores. But, because we had purchased three other air conditioners in the past three months, the store sourced another one for us.
So not only did that staff member save us thousands of yen, but he is also to thank for us being able to buy four new air conditioner units this year when they are in short supply. The photo in this post is not of any of the air conditioning units in my house, it is just a generic air conditioner photo I had to hand.
