Wind chime season has arrived

Wind chime season has arrived photo

I saw my first wind chime display of the season this day last week at Naritasan temple in Kawagoe (see review section for details), pictured above. In truth, there is an area of Kawagoe where you can see wind chimes all year round, but I always appreciate seeing my first summer season wind chime of the year.

Yesterday, at another temple in rural Kawagoe, I saw another display, pictured below. I love how this display has flowers in the glass of the chime. They still make the distinctive, soothing glass wind chime sound despite having a flower in them.

There are other temples and shrines too in Saitama Prefecture that have had their wind chimes up since the start of June. I just haven't gotten around to see them yet this year. One of the most famous wind chime displays, at Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine, will start at the end of June. All these displays really make it feel like summer as I forever will associate wind chimes with summer in Japan.

Have you seen any wind chimes yet this year?
