August temps - not quite as bad as I expected

I know August is not yet over. I also know that the hot days are far from over. In fact, they are expecting a couple of scorchers in Saitama this week. Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to soar to 37°C. However, overall, August temperatures this year have not been quite as bad as expected.

I wasn’t here last August, but from what people say, and from the weather data, it seems last year’s heat was much more intense than this year’s. August 2025 was significantly hotter than August 2026 in most of Kanto, with more extreme heat days and higher nighttime temperatures. And in 2024 there were multiple days when the temperature was over 35°C in Kanto. 2024 also saw unusually high nighttime temperatures.

This year so far, the temperatures haven't been as bad by comparison. We did experience an early-month peak in the Kanto region. But temperatures somewhat stabilized after, with central Tokyo and surrounding areas logging limited or no 35°C+ days through mid-to-late August. I personally found July a much hotter and tougher month. How about you?
