Are you aware of the terms of your contract?

Today, and June 10th annually, is Labor Contract Awareness Day 労働契約を考える日 in Japan. It was established by the Labor Contract Agent Association, a nonprofit organization based in Tokyo, which provides consulting on labor contracts and work literacy. The date comes from the wordplay of 6/10; "rō (6) – dō (10)", meaning “labor.”

The purpose of the day is to encourage both workers and employers to recognize the importance of labor contracts. It invites workers across Japan to review the terms of their own contracts and reflect on how they want to shape their future working styles. The anniversary was officially certified by the Japan Anniversary Association in 2021.

The association promotes proper labor‑contract practices by raising awareness of “labor contract agents,” specialists who support fair contract creation. It also conducts seminars, lectures, and corporate training sessions on work literacy. The day highlights Japan’s ongoing efforts to improve workplace understanding, communication, and transparency between employers and employees.
