Spotted Bellflower, a birthday flower of July 10th

Spotted Bellflower is one of the birthday flowers of July 10th annually. It is also a birthday flower of June 5th and November 26th. Spotted Bellflower has the most magical name in Japanese: Hotaru Bukuro, which means firefly pouch.
Spotted Bellflower is one of Japan's early summer treasures, typically blooming from June to July with soft white, red-purple or violet lantern shaped flowers. Its delicate bells hang slightly downward, giving it a fairytale like present along forest paths and garden edges. I could just as easily imagine fairies living in the bells as fireflies.
In the 'hanakotoba', Japanese language of flowers, Spotted Bellflower carries the meanings of "loyalty" and "Justice". In English floriography, it is associated with gratitude, constancy, and unwavering love.
Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
