A day for a good year!
Today, and April 14th annually, is Good Year Day 良い年の日 in Japan. It is a hopeful anniversary created by a long-established, Osaka based, pharmaceutical company, Morishita Jintan, who are known for supporting health and longevity.
The date of the "Good Year Day" anniversary comes on a play on how 4/14 can be read as "Good Year"; "yo (4) i (1) to shi (4)". The anniversary encourages people, especially older adults, to embrace each new year of life with vitality and confidence.
Good Year Day is a reminder that aging can be active, joyful, and full of possibility. It invites people to take small steps toward better health, appreciate the wisdom that comes with experience, and look ahead with a sense of renewal; trusting that each year can be a “good year”.
Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
