Just like the trinket in my previous product review of another Bandai "Gashapon" Capsule Toy, I was buying this as a present for a teenager who is mad into capsule toys. I wanted to get her something different and this certainly looked to fit the bill! I also know that she likes "Cugly" characters and these "faguraa" or "kimo-kawaii" type characters are relatively popular, despite their bizarre appearance. A bit like the Huggy Wuggy a few years ago! I like that apart from being just a trinket, these are on a chain making them suitable as a key holder. It also means they are easy to hang from, say, a schoolbag. I also like that the "Funny Ugly Monsters" are soft to the touch.

As fun as this "Funny Ugly Monster" range is, it certainly won't appeal to everyone. The intentionally distorted design can come across as more unsettling than charming, especially for people who prefer cute or polished figures. For the same reason, they wouldn't be suited to small children. In fact, a lot of capsule toys are not recommended for small children and come with a minimum age recommendation. Like all capsule toys - you don't know which one you are going to get from the machine - it's a lottery. Some people may be disappointed when they don't get the one they were after. You can't exchange them. This range only has five in its collection, which may disappointing and not very exciting for some people.
