This was a spur of the moment purchase in Lawson. The queue for the register was long and I found myself perusing all the different Lawson sweets in the aisle I was queuing in. The melon pan grabbed my attention because it has not just a layer of chocolate on the top, but also chocolate chips. And generous size chocolate chips at that. I hadn't read the packaging properly, so it was a very pleasant surprise to discover that the melon pan has a layer of cream in it. The melon was cut in two and a thin layer of cream is spread between the two layers.

This particular chocolate chip melon pan is only available at Lawson. It is quite sweet due to all the chocolate it contains. Personally, it wasn't too sweet for me, but some people may find the sweetness a bit much. If you're looking for something less sweet, I would suggest sticking with a regular melon pan. Overall I liked it. For me the positive outweighs the negative and I would buy this product again. The price has gone up in recent years, but that is just the lay of the land these days. Everything has gone up and relative to other similar products, its priced fairly.
