Meiji MIlk Chocolate, "Milch", 100th Anniversary
Meiji Milk Chocolate is celebrating 100 years this month, marking a century of flavor, craftsmanship and cultural impact. The chocolate was first released on September 13th, 1926. This month, the company is offering a range of commemorative products, cultural projects and cross-industry collaborations to mark the milestone. In addition, today - September 13th, 2026 - they received their official anniversary registration from the Japan Anniversary Association.
The anniversary theme focuses on “kindness passed down” and “kindness to be passed on,” expressing gratitude to customers while introducing new value for the next century. Special products include limited‑edition packaging with a 100th‑anniversary logo, a revival version using cacao blends from the original 1926 recipe, and a new reduced‑sugar chocolate enriched with nutrients for children.
Meiji is also partnering with cafés, lifestyle brands, fashion labels, and publishers to create chocolate‑inspired items, desserts, and books. Cultural initiatives include a short‑story anthology themed around Meiji Milk Chocolate and exhibitions highlighting the brand’s history.
Have you seen any of the limited-edition packaging or special collaborations yet?
