Only 25 yen a train ride
I was blown over by how cheap my daughter's high school commuter pass is for the train. It works out at just 25 yen a ride, if she ends up going to school on both Saturdays and Sundays for club. But even if she doesn't it works out at just 37.5 yen per train ride, if she only commutes to school Monday to Friday.
I hope you can understand for privacy and security I will not disclose the train line or the train stations. But what I can tell you is that she only has to travel one stop / station each time. The price of the commuter pass is calculated by either how many stops you ride or the distance. Without a pass, the ride costs 150 yen each time.
I got her a six-month high school commuter pass for 9000 yen. Saving me at least 25000 yen. Each trip would have worked out even cheaper if I got her a year pass. But I want to wait and see how the year pans out. Things may change over time. I know from her sempai that many people change how they commute to school as time goes on.
Do you get a commuter pass? Do you save much on it?
