White Morning Glory and Convolvulus, birthday flowers of April 14th
There are several different birthday flowers for April 14th annually. Two of them I have already introduced on City-cost: Doudan Tsutsuji and Deutzia. But Broom, Philadelphia Fleabane and Tweedia are also birthday flowers of April 14th. Another two are White Morning Glory and White Convolvulus, which is a type of Bindweed like Morning Glory.
Interestingly the Japanese for Bindweed is "Harugao", which means "afternoon face", so it pairs perfectly with "morning glory" which is "morning face", "asagao" in Japanese. Convolvulus is called "seiyou hirugao" and the white variety "Shiroi Seiyou hirugao". To be 100% perfectly honest, I do not know for sure if the photo in this post - which I took - is white morning glory or white convolvulus! I find them very hard to tell apart. But seen as both are a birthday flower of April 14th, it is fitting!
In the 'hanakotoba' language of flowers, Morning Glory represents ‘ephemeral love,’ ‘strong bonds,’ and ‘affection.’” And Convolvulus means ‘bonds,’ ‘friendship,’ and ‘love affair.’” They both bloom around July and August. Sometimes you can still see Morning Glory in September too.

Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
