The description
Starbucks' Torori Mitsuimo Beni Haruka Frappuccino blends sweet potato flavours with a creamy frozen base, topped with whipped cream and roasted sweet potato sauce.
The good
Mitsuimo are sweet potatoes that are so sweet they are called 'honey potatoes'. So, I was excited to try the "Torori Mitsuimo Beni Haruka Frappuccino" which is a time limited Autumn drink from Starbucks. Overall, I thought it was a pleasant seasonal drink, but not one of their best, in my humble opinion. The roasted sweet potato sauce added a rich sweetness that reminded me of baked satsumaimo, while the creamy texture made it feel indulgent. I also liked the little bits of sweet potato flavor that appeared throughout the drink, helping it feel more unique than a standard Frappuccino. The topping added extra richness.
The not so good
Although I enjoyed the drink, I found it much milkier than I expected. Probably the milkiest I've ever tasted. I prefer my Frappuccino to be creamy and the whipped cream to be evident. This tasted more like milk with a bit of sweet potato. The sweet potato flavor was certainly present, but it sometimes struggled to stand out. It felt like there wasn't enough of it. And considering the price, I thought they would be more generous with the sweet potato flavor. I was hoping for a stronger roasted sweet potato taste, particularly after seeing the sauce and seasonal advertising. It's still a good seasonal Frappuccino, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if the sweet potato flavor had been bolder and less overshadowed by the dairy elements.
