The description
Steak Gusto’s Crispy Apple Pie (サクサクりんごパイ), light, crispy apple pie served with a soft cream base. Sweet apple filling and flaky pastry make this a small but satisfying dessert.
The good
Steak Gusto’s Crispy Apple Pie is a charming little dessert with some personality! It is quite photogenic and it is unusual the way the pie part stands up around the ice-cream like a tent! The pastry is flaky and crisp, giving a pleasant contrast to the warm, sweet apple filling. The sauce underneath adds a gentle richness without overpowering the fruit. It’s portioned just right for ending a meal - sweet enough to feel like a treat, but light enough that it doesn’t weigh you down. It's a nice way to end a meal!
The not so good
Although, the portion size is good in that you could easily fit it in after a big meal, it is surprisingly small when it arrives to the table! I was quite taken aback. And it was on a plate much like a plate you get in a child's toy set! You definitely wouldn't be sharing this dessert! However, considering its only 180 yen, it is a fair size. Plus, because it is so small you could probably have two desserts from the same range and if you buy three, you get a discount! The pastry, while crisp, can soften quickly on the cream base. As part of a budget mini‑dessert lineup, it works, but it doesn’t offer much depth or surprise. If you’re looking for a more memorable or indulgent dessert, this one may come across as too mild.
