The description

This 100-yen store product is a slim, portable comb with a built‑in mirror for quick hair checks on the go. Pitched for bangs. It is lightweight, and pocket‑friendly.

The good

This compact comb is a surprisingly handy little item to keep in a pocket or small bag. A gem from the 100-yen store. I got it in Seria, but most 100-yen stores carry something very similar. They pitch it as particularly useful for managing bangs (a fringe). I got it for my teenager who is particularly happy with the built‑in mirror that makes it easy for her to check her bangs on the go. The slim design also means it doesn’t take up space and it fits in the pocket of her school uniform (skirt). The hinge feels smooth, and the mirror is clear once the protective film is removed. It’s ideal for commuters, students, or anyone who likes quick touch‑ups throughout the day. For a simple 100‑yen accessory, it feels thoughtfully designed and genuinely useful.

The not so good

While convenient, the comb is quite small, so it’s not great for brushing through thicker hair or doing more than quick fixes. But in fairness, they do state on the package that it's best for bangs. As it is only 100 yen (110 yen with tax) it doesn't look or feel to be of great quality. The plastic is lightweight, which makes it easy to carry but also means it may not hold up to heavy use. The hinge may loosen over time too. The mirror is tiny, so you can only see a small portion of your face at once - again, stated on the package that it is for bangs and the mirror does allow you see your bangs. It’s fine for emergencies or minor adjustments, but not a replacement for a sturdier comb or a proper compact mirror.
