The description
This product is a handy "Sick Bag" from Daiso designed for motion sickness and emergencies. The absorbent contents quickly solidify liquid, helping contain odours and making disposal cleaner and more discreet.
The good
I feel like this is an "Only in Japan" type product. And it feels very appropriate on "Manner Day" (https://www.city-cost.com/blogs/BigfamJapan/GB40O-living_saitama) where there is a consciousness about behaving in such a way that creates harmony for everyone. A sick bag that actually solidifies vomit and contains the odor so that you can dispose of it in a mannerly way, is a perfect example of the level of manners in Japan. I do actually think that this product would do well in my home country too, but not enough for economies of scale. I like that the product had its name in English because I was able to find it quickly among all the fabulous travel items in the Daiso 100 yen shop. It was for my youngest daughter's school trip, so I also appreciated that she got some comfort out of having this product in her possession. Thankfully, she didn't need it in the end.
The not so good
I am pretty sure there used to be three bags in this product in the past, because I have also bought it for my older daughters in the past. But this one just had the one in it. 100 yen (before tax, 110 yen after tax) might sound cheap at first, but for just one bag it is not very economical. Especially as a travel sick child will probably need more than one bag as they are only "one time use". For the same reason, it is not very ecological either. But sending my child off on a school trip at 12 years old, I got peace of mind of her having this bag to hand, just in case.
