The description

A soft, milk‑rich cornet filled with fluffy milk whip and smooth custard made with Morinaga “Oishii Gyūnyū” (Delicious Milk). It is Light, sweet, and creamy.

The good

I don't normally like cornet much. I don't dislike them either, but they aren't the first thing I reach for on the bakery shelf. But I was drawn to the bright, fresh coloring of the package of this "fresh cornet" by Yamazaki bakery. Overall, it tasted better than expected and I think the reason is that the bread isn't as artificial tasting as most cornet I have tried. It is a lovely mix of softness and gentle sweetness. The dough has a moist, melt‑in‑the‑mouth feel thanks to the added fresh cream, and the combination of milk whip and milk custard creates a light yet satisfying richness.

The not so good

While the Nama Corone is pleasant, it may feel too mild for those who prefer stronger flavors. The milk whip is airy but can seem a bit thin, and the custard, though smooth, leans on the sweeter side without much depth. It's not very filling either. The price varies greatly between branches. I got it for 130 yen on discount, but it may be cheaper elsewhere without a discount. Because its "fresh" it has a short shelf life. Overall, though, it’s an easy, comforting bread treat to enjoy with tea or on its own, and the balance of textures makes it feel a little special without being overwhelming.
