Keeping cool in summer: Cooling Neck Wrap
Cooling products are everywhere in Japan at the moment, taking up prime retail space in supermarkets, drug stores, and 100‑yen shops. It can be hard to know which one to buy. In this series, I am looking at some of the items on offer - and next up is the cooling neck wrap. This is not a review, just a simple explanation about the product.

What it is
Cooling neck wraps are designed to keep the neck area cool. This one uses a water‑freezing gel that stays cold for a long time. You freeze it, wrap it around your neck, and it provides a steady cooling sensation without feeling wet or sticky. The packaging highlights a dry feeling, long‑lasting coolness, and the fact that it’s reusable, making it practical for daily summer use.
People use these for commuting, walking, gardening, festivals, or simply staying comfortable at home on humid days. My children have a version of this type of cooling neck wrap, but ours require a cover on them so the frozen part doesn't come directly in contact with the skin. They are not as convenient, so we don't use them that much. Have you used this product before? Did you find it convenient?
